Postpartum Support Following Surrogacy:
For the Intended Parent(s):
A Surrogacy Postpartum Doula provides evidence-based information on things such as infant feeding, and emotional recovery from birth, family bonding with baby, infant soothing and basic newborn care. A Postpartum Doula typically helps a new family in the first few days and weeks after bringing baby home. This includes things like helping the parent(s) feel more confident in their roles, sharing education on family adjustments and tending to the unique needs of the new family. She can also help with things such as light housekeeping, light lunches, and assisting in dinner preparation.
For the Surrogate:
The Surrogacy Postpartum Doula will aid in the adjustment after the birth of the surrogate baby. She will focus on your physical and emotional needs. During this time she will also help with the basic needs of your household, providing meals for yourself and family and helping with your children while you rest and have time for self-care.
